5-Month Intensive International Postgraduate Programme

This 5-month programme is open to foreign candidates beginning their Ph.D. training and to advanced M.A. students with an interest in research. 

Core Training Package:
Candidates in the Intensive programme begin their training with a the course "Theories in Sex/Gender", which explores the most important strands of feminist theorizing, provides an overview of major issues at stake in Women's Studies, past as well as present, and additionally critically interrogates debates on some key-concepts in feminist thought. They subsequently focus their work on the following areas: a) Body Issues, b) Feminist Methodology for Research and c) Gender & Representation.

Besides the core courses all candidates in the Intensive Programme are required to attend the PhD Reading/Writing seminars and/or the Research Master seminars (depending on your academic level). These seminars (3 hours per session, taught by Prof.dr. Rosemarie Buikema) are specifically for our Gender Research (PhD and Master) students, but students participating in the Intensive Programme are highly recommended to attend these seminars. There will be a systematized reading programme.
The Intensive International core-package thus consists of the following requirements:

The Intensive Graduate programme will be launched with a welcome by Prof. Dr. Rosemarie Buikema. This session serves to provide candidates with further details on the training programme and general background information on Women's Studies and Practices of Feminism in the Netherlands. It is also the moment to meet members of the school's faculty and staff.

Optional (extra fees should be paid):
  • Research supervision by a GGeP faculty member (Individual Coaching option).
  • Attending GGeP courses outside the basic package.
Certificate:
A certificate is issued after successful completion of all requirements. Please note that this 5-month training doesn't officially constitute a M.A. or Ph.D. degree, although an ECTS system is in place. 
 
Tuition fees:
The tuition fee for this programme is Eur. 2500 (including use of internet facilities and university library). Fees are exclusive of room, board and insurance.
