Prof. Azar Nafisi's lecture was a success: Thursday November 26 2009 Prof. Azar Nafisi, best-selling author of Reading Lolita in Teheran held a lecture on women, literature and politics in Iran. In dialogue with Shervin Nekuee (author of De Perzische Paradox 2006) the audience caught a glimpse of Nafisi's views and work. - On Friday June 20th 2008 Iris van der Tuin defended her PhD thesis at Utrecht University. The thesis was entitled 'Third Wave Materialism: New Feminist Epistemologies and the Generation of European Women's Studies' and Iris graduated Cum Laude!
- Prof. Gloria Wekker has been awared the Ruth Benedict Prize 2007 for her book The Politics of Passion; Women’s sexual Culture in the Afro-Surinamese Diaspora (Columbia University Press, 2006). The Ruth Benedict Prize is presented each year at the American Anthropological Association's (AAA) annual meetings in acknowledgment of excellence in a book written from an anthropological perspective on a lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgendered topic. The public acknowledgement was at the annual meeting of the AAA, on Saturday December 1st 2007 in Washington DC.

- On May 25th 2007 Prof. Rosi Braidotti received a Honorary Degree by the University of Helsinki. Prof. Braidotti will receive the Doctor of Philosophy honoris causa. This is the highest degree the university can bestow. For information in Dutch, click here.
