Conference Venue
Utrecht is an old city, founded by the Romans. It is located in the heart of The Netherlands on the banks of the river Rhine. Its university is more than 350 years old and is the largest in the country with about 25,000 students.
In addition, Utrecht has a nice, medieval city centre with canals, a number of old churches, musea, a modern concert hall and a municipal theatre. Open air markets, pubs and restaurants can easily be found. The city is also a business centre with the largest commercial fair (Jaarbeurs) in The Netherlands.
Educatorium
The conference will be held at the Educatorium (address: Leuvenlaan 19, 3584 CE, Utrecht). The Educatorium is a multifunctional educational building that was completed at the end of 1997 in the heart of the university centre De Uithof in Utrecht. The Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA) designed The Educatorium under the supervision of the famous architect Rem Koolhaas.
How to get to the conference site
Most direct bus route form the Central Station
- From Utrecht Central Station take bus 12 or 12s in the direction of 'De Uithof/AZU'
- Get off the bus at bus stop called 'Centrumgebouw-Zuid'
- Across the street you will see the 'Willem C. van Unnikgebouw' (you can recognize this 15-story building by the seal of the University on it’s roof. The address is Heidelberglaan 2)
- Through the main entrance of the 'Willem C. van Unnikgebouw' you walk to the main entrance of the 'Educatorium'
Most scenic route through the city
- From the Central Station or the city centre take bus 11 in the direction of 'De Uithof/WKZ'
- Get off the bus at bus stop called 'Heidelberglaan'
- Cross the street and walk about 100 meters back in the direction that you came
- At your right you will see the 'Willem C. van Unnikgebouw' (address: Heidelberglaan 2)
- Through the main entrance of the 'Willem C. van Unnikgebouw' you walk to the main entrance of the 'Educatorium'
